Singapore corporate tax filing: an overview for company owners

What Singapore companies file with IRAS each year, when it is due, and what to prepare.

Short answer: Singapore companies generally file Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI) within three months after the financial year end, unless they qualify for the ECI filing waiver, and file an annual corporate income tax return (Form C-S, Form C-S (Lite) or Form C) by 30 November each year.

Key filings

FilingWhat it isGeneral timing
Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI)An estimate of the company's taxable income for the year of assessmentWithin 3 months after financial year end, unless the waiver applies (annual revenue of S$5 million or below and ECI of nil)
Form C-S / Form C-S (Lite)Simplified return for smaller companies that meet IRAS qualifying conditionsBy 30 November
Form CFull corporate income tax return for companies that do not qualify for Form C-SBy 30 November

What to prepare

  • Financial statements for the financial year
  • A tax computation that adjusts accounting profit for tax purposes
  • Schedules for capital allowances, donations and other claims
  • Details of any grants, incentives and exempt income
  • Records supporting related-party and overseas transactions

Good practice

  • Close the accounts early so that there is time to prepare the computation carefully
  • Keep supporting documents for the period required by IRAS
  • Check that the person filing has the right CorpPass authorisation
  • Reply to IRAS queries by the stated deadline, and ask for more time if needed

What IRAS decides

Companies self-report. IRAS reviews returns, may raise queries and issues the assessment. An adviser can help prepare accurate returns, but cannot guarantee a particular tax outcome.
